SAVE THE DATE: “No Kings” Rally – March 28th, 2026
In 2025, millions of Americans came together in nonviolent protest to oppose the growing authoritarian actions of the Trump administration and affirm that this nation belongs to its people, not to kings.
Since then, people have continued to rise up nonviolently against the Trump administration’s ongoing brutality and abuses of power, including the latest escalation in Minnesota.
The No Kings Coalition is activating an immediate and ongoing nationwide digital organizing effort leading up to the next mass mobilization on March 28, 2026, including a Twin Cities flagship event.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
All participants are expected to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those
who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.

Faith Talks: “Immigration and Loving Our Neighbors.”
With everything happening in our world right now, many of us are carrying a lot. Some are feeling overwhelmed, heartbroken, confused, angry, or afraid. And for our neighbors and their families being targeted, these days can feel especially heavy and uncertain.
In moments like this, we are reminded that faith calls us to respond
with love, compassion, and courage.
In that spirit, we share a timely and meaningful replay of the January 26, 2026, episode of UWF Faith Talks, “Immigration and Loving Our Neighbors.”
This conversation reflects on what love in action means when families are impacted and communities are searching for safety, dignity, & hope.

“NO KINGS” Rally – October 18th, 2025: 12 – 2pm
Join us on Saturday, October 18th from Noon-2pm for the
“No Kings” protest/rally along El Camino Real.
CUMC has signed up for the intersection of Remington/Fair Oaks
and El Camino in Sunnyvale.
Everyone is encouraged to wear something yellow for this protest – as opposed to red, white & blue. Yellow is the traditional unifying color representing peaceful resistance against authoritarian governments.
Anyone who would like to carpool can meet
in the CUMC parking lot ~11:15am. The Rally starts at Noon.
We will gather at the SouthWest corner of El Camino and Remington/Fair Oaks.
There is quite a bit of parking all around that intersection, but we will try to park somewhere in the Pavlina Plaza Shopping Center if possible. Here’s a link to the map.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.

Worship at Work – Build a Bike – Fifth Sunday Event
On Sunday, October 30th, another “Fifth Sunday“, we will brought
our pledges, worshiped for 25 minutes in the Sanctuary and then continued to worship with our hands and hearts as we worked together…
We assembled 60 bicycles and helmets!
We sewed 40 blankets and rain ponchos for our homeless neighbors!
We made chili and had lunch together!
Every person, of every capacity contributed in some way on this day.
Adults AND Youth alike:
– Built bikes or worked alongside an expert bicycle-builder in Fellowship Hall, and
– Cut and sewed fabric in the Fireside Room or Library, and
– Helped prepare and serve lunch, and some
– Remained in the Sanctuary and supported this project with continued worship and prayer,
led by Pastor Larry LaPierre
On Monday, October 31st, all bicycles were given to children who need them – in the church’s neighborhood and community.
See photos from the event here. Read the article from the San Jose Mercury News.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this event!
