“No Kings” Rally\u00a0 –\u00a0 March 28th, 2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The No Kings Coalition<\/a> is organizing a mass mobilization on March 28, 2026<\/strong><\/em>.
\nPlease join CUMC’s Church in Action on Saturday, March 28, from 12 – 2 pm<\/em>
\nat St. James Park<\/a> in downtown San Jose<\/span>. It’s more important than ever for us as Christians and citizens to show support for our diverse community and for the preservation of our country’s precious democracy.
\nMeet in the church parking lot at 11am to carpool.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alternatively, you can take the light rail, or drive yourself to the protest.
\nAnyone who doesn’t feel comfortable\/isn’t able to attend,
\nbut is willing to chauffeur attendees to and from the protest<\/span><\/em>,
\nplease also meet in the church parking lot at 11am.<\/p>\n

At 11:45 am, our group will meet up across from the Park in the courtyard in front of the Superior Court building<\/span> (191 N. 1st Street<\/a>, corner of St. James & 1st Street). Invite your friends!<\/p>\n

Stop by the Church in Action\/Social Justice table in Fellowship Hall following worship,<\/span> where you can pick up a protest flyer, learn about your rights as they apply to DHS and ICE actions, and sign up to be a part of CUMC Church in Action. We’ll be happy to talk with you about these matters and anything else that might be on your mind during these challenging times.<\/p>\n

Faith Talks: “Immigration and Loving Our Neighbors.”<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

With everything happening in our world right now, many of us are carrying a lot. Some are feeling overwhelmed, heartbroken, confused, angry, or afraid. And for our neighbors and their families being targeted, these days can feel especially heavy and uncertain.
\nIn moments like this, we are reminded that faith calls us to respond
\nwith love, compassion, and courage.<\/span><\/p>\n

In that spirit, we share a timely and meaningful replay of the January 26, 2026, episode of UWF Faith Talks, “Immigration and Loving Our Neighbors<\/a>.”
\n<\/em>This conversation reflects on what love in action means when families are impacted and communities are searching for safety, dignity, & hope.<\/p>\n

“NO KINGS” Rally – October 18th, 2025:\u00a0 12 – 2pm<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

\"Click<\/a>Join us on\u00a0Saturday, October 18th\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>from Noon-2pm <\/em><\/strong><\/span>for the
\n\u201cNo Kings”<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0protest\/rally<\/a>\u00a0along El Camino Real.
\nCUMC has signed up for the intersection of Remington\/Fair Oaks
\nand El Camino in Sunnyvale.
\nEveryone is encouraged to wear something yellow<\/strong><\/em> for this protest – as opposed to red, white & blue. Yellow is the traditional unifying color<\/em> representing peaceful resistance against authoritarian governments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anyone who would like to carpool can meet
\nin the CUMC parking lot ~11:15am. The Rally starts at Noon.<\/span><\/p>\n

We will gather at the SouthWest corner of El Camino and Remington\/Fair Oaks<\/i><\/b>.
\nThere is quite a bit of parking all around that intersection, but we will try to park somewhere in the Pavlina Plaza Shopping Center if possible<\/span>. Here’s a link to the map<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nwho participated in the 17K by 17K Rally<\/a> along El Camino Real on Labor Day –
\nit was an uplifting and empowering experience! And this is just the beginning …<\/p>\n

17x17k Peaceful Resistance Rally – Sept 1st, 2025<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

\ndon’t know where to begin?<\/em><\/span>
\nCampbell UMC will be part of the 17x17K Peaceful Resistance Rally <\/span>on El Camino Real on Labor Day
\nto defend Democracy and say No to fascism.<\/p>\n

Join us on this 17 mile-long (from Santa Clara to Redwood City) protest in place <\/span><\/i>where we will show our peaceful, loving,
\njustice-minded solidarity.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Where: <\/b>Meet in the church parking lot at 10:30am to carpool OR go directly*

Worship at Work – Build a Bike – Fifth Sunday Event <\/strong><\/h4>\n

On Sunday, October 30th, another “Fifth Sunday<\/a>“, we will brought \"20161030_buildabike_lg\" our pledges, worshiped\u00a0for 25 minutes in the Sanctuary and then continued to worship with our hands and hearts as we worked together…<\/p>\n

We<\/em>\u00a0assembled 60 bicycles and helmets!
\nWe<\/em>\u00a0sewed 40 blankets and rain ponchos for our homeless neighbors!
\nWe<\/em>\u00a0made chili and had\u00a0lunch together!<\/p>\n

Every person, of every capacity contributed in some way on this day.<\/p>\n

Adults AND Youth alike:
\n– Built bikes or worked alongside an expert bicycle-builder in Fellowship Hall,\u00a0and<\/em>
\n– Cut and sewed fabric in the Fireside Room or Library,\u00a0and<\/em>
\n– Helped prepare and serve lunch,\u00a0and some<\/em>
\n– Remained in the Sanctuary and supported this project with continued worship and prayer,
\nled by Pastor Larry LaPierre<\/p>\n

On Monday, October 31st, all bicycles were\u00a0given to children who need them – in the church\u2019s neighborhood and community.<\/p>\n
