\nBrass & String ensembles, Carillon Handbell Choir, along with the Chancel Choir, African Fellowship Choir, and children\u2019s Joyful Notes Choir will performed a repertoire\u00a0 including stirring Christmas overtures and arrangements of traditional carols among secular and contemporary tunes.<\/p>\n

Decorate the Season of Love<\/em> Christmas Tree<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\ndecorate our Season of Love Christmas Tree!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Bring an ornament in honor of a person or ministry or cause that touches your heart, and place it on the Christmas tree that will stand proudly in the Fellowship Hall where we can enjoy it throughout the time of Advent and Christmas.
\nEveryone can participate!<\/span> Ornaments can be homemade! You can write the name of the person or thing you are honoring on your ornament: Grandma & Grandpa, your Sunday School teacher, LifeMoves, 2ndHarvest, Safe Parking Program, your sweet sister, someone who has inspired you\u2026<\/p>\n

Bring your ornaments to Fellowship Hall during December and place them on the tree during Fellowship Time. There will be ornament hangers on a table near the tree, for your convenience.

\"\"The holiday season is often described as a time of joy & celebration. Yet for many, it can be bittersweet \u2013 shadowed by grief, loneliness, or distress. These emotions may surface unexpectedly or loom as the holidays approach. In a world that often pressures us to \u201cput on a happy face,\u201d the church offers a sacred alternative: a space where the fullness of our humanity, including sorrow, is not only welcome but honored.<\/p>\n

Through Scripture, prayer, and music, this service will create a space of comfort and solidarity. As Jesus reminds us, \u201cThe Sabbath was made for humankind, not humankind for the Sabbath.\u201d This gathering is an opportunity to rest in God\u2019s presence \u2013 embracing the depth of your emotions.
\nDrawing on the tradition of lament found in the Psalms & Lamentations, we will reflect on how personal & communal grief intertwine\u2013 reminding us that we are not alone. Together, we\u2019ll lean on God\u2019s boundless love, trusting that grace meets us in our vulnerability and leads us toward healing.<\/p>\n

The Giving Tree – Return gifts by December 9th<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

\nby the Salvation Army Silicon Valley.
\nIn the foyer of Fellowship Hall will be a Christmas tree, covered in gift tags. The tags are suggested gifts, with a variety of ages and ideas.<\/p>\n

You can help make Christmas a little brighter for a child in need,
\nby taking a tag from the Giving Tree
\nbetween November 16th and December 7th<\/strong><\/em>.
\nTake a tag from the tree, buy the suggested age-appropriate gift, and
\nreturn the gift unwrapped<\/span> to the church office by
\nTuesday, December 9th at 10:00am<\/span><\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n

This year, we\u2019ll\u00a0also support their\u00a0Online Toy Drive<\/span>. You can shop from home by visiting this\u00a0Amazon Toy List<\/span><\/a>\u00a0created by Salvation Army Silicon Valley\u00a0and even\u00a0use Amazon scrip purchased from CUMC<\/a>\u00a0to pay for the purchases<\/em>. You’ll be able to choose from hundreds of toys that will be shipped directly to the local Salvation Army campus where volunteers will prepare them for local children.<\/p>\n

The Giving Tree will be in the foyer of Fellowship Hall through Sunday, November 30th.
\n<\/em><\/span><\/span>Your generosity will make the holidays truly special for a child who has little.<\/p>\n

Safe Parking at CUMC: November 1 – 30, 2025<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

This year our church is again participating in the Safe Parking program– an innovative program where people who do not have permanent housing and are living in their cars are invited to park safely each night for a month at a local church.
\nWe provide parking spots, access to a bathroom overnight, a hospitality room with meals\/snacks, and volunteers who greet the guests in the hospitality room each night.
