MOVING TOWARD CHURCH GROWTH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Church Council sees a great opportunity to capture our current energy and develop it to attract more people and increase our outreach in the name of Jesus Christ. So, a plan was developed<\/span> \u2013 an investment \u2013 a challenge for this church community to move and embrace the energy and, with the help of the Holy Spirit, build it by focusing on three key areas of the church: Children; Youth & Young Adults, and African Fellowship. This Growth Plan involves hiring three part-time individuals to commit one day a week to each of these ministries.
\nAt the \u201cSpecial Session of Church Council\u201d on Sept 14th, <\/em>the plan was approved<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Groups for Women<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Faith ~ Hope ~ Love\u00a0 in Action<\/em>
\nUnited Women in Faith (UWF)<\/a><\/strong> is a community of women of all ages. They gather to support one another\u2019s spiritual lives, for creative and supportive fellowship, and to encourage one another to self-giving service in the community and the world.<\/p>\n

PrimeTime<\/strong><\/a> is a social group focused on women in the prime of their lives. PrimeTime meetups include a variety of activities to promote having fun while building friendships and meaningful interaction. Contact primetime[at]campbellunited[dot]org<\/p>\n

Women’s Bible Study<\/a> and Discussion Group<\/strong> – meets at 10am every Tuesday<\/strong><\/em> in the Fireside Room and\/or online. This group is a wonderful place to learn, study and discuss God\u2019s word, and to enjoy friendship and fellowship. All are welcome. We affirm people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, and actively work towards creating not only<\/em> a welcoming but affirming environment. Sunday Bible\/Book Study
\n<\/strong>The Bible Study<\/a> group meets on Sundays after Worship from 11:30am-12:30pm<\/strong><\/em> in the\u00a0Library<\/a>,
\n(you can also join via zoom \u2013 write to info[at]campbellunited[dot]org for zoom meeting info).
\nA book of the Bible, a new book with relevance to biblical stories and principles, or sometimes a video series is selected for each session. Come join us in exploring together these fascinating stories from and history of the Bible.<\/p>\n

Book Club<\/strong>
\nThe Book Club<\/a> reads a variety of works: biographies, classics, novels. It meets during the school year<\/em> on the 4th Monday of each month from 12:30 – 2:00pm from September thru June<\/strong><\/em>. Drop-ins are welcome. Contact: info[at]campbellunited[dot]org<\/p>\n

Prayer Shawl Ministry<\/strong>
\nThe Prayer Shawl Ministry group meets monthly to knit or crochet together and to create prayer shawls that are taken to people who are sick or experiencing loss in their lives. For more information, contact PrayerShawl[at]campbellunited[dot]org<\/p>\n

Art & Spirit Ministry – Currently Suspended<\/span>
\n<\/a><\/strong>The Art & Spirit Prison Ministry<\/a><\/strong> began in 2011 with a vision and a handful of volunteers from Campbell United Methodist Church and has now expanded to volunteers from other churches. This program provides opportunities for inmates in Santa Clara County jails to connect with their Spirit through the creative arts. Each session has a spiritual theme and includes art, music, scripture, prayer, writing, and reflective discussion. The classes are offered in units on both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s sides of the Elmwood jail. They are inclusive and welcome everyone \u2013 regardless of spiritual beliefs. 50+ Unlimited – Currently Suspended<\/span><\/strong>
\nis made up of men and women, age 50 and older who come together for fellowship and fun in a variety of activities throughout the year. There is no membership requirement; all are invited.<\/p>\n

Adult Sunday School (Adult Education) – Currently Suspended<\/span>

MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

At Campbell UMC, there are a number of opportunities for participating in worship with the gift of music. There are Adult and Children\u2019s vocal Choirs, as well as Adult and Children\u2019s Handbell Choirs who all welcome new musicians of all skill levels. PRIDE in ACTION<\/em>: RECONCILING MINISTRIES\u00a0 (LGBTQ+)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/strong><\/em>Being a Reconciling Congregation<\/a> means we welcome all persons as Christ did, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, cultural background, physical or mental health ability, family status, or financial circumstances.\u00a0 We want ALL people, including gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons and their families to feel welcome here and part of our family.<\/p>\n

Campbell UMC has been a Reconciling Congregation since 1998 and is a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network<\/a> (RMN). Along with the RMN, we affirm the vision of the Methodist Church to be one of Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors. Campbell UMC has been dedicated to working with RMN, Love Your Neighbor Coalition<\/a>, and other organizations at the UMC General Conference<\/a> which now has changed the official UMC stance* to include LGBTQ+ clergy and candidates, and support (as well as perform the ceremonies) of marriage for all<\/em> people.<\/p>\n

*After over five decades of strife and adoption of policies that increasingly excluded non-heterosexual persons from the clergy and receiving the full ministries of the church, the 2024 UMC General Conference removed all of those restrictions<\/em> and replaced them with a series of affirmations and agreements<\/a> about how all persons will be treated with respect to their sexuality or gender identity. These updated provisions are in entire effect as of January 1, 2025. Some of them went into immediate effect as of the close of the 2024 General Conference (May 3, 2024).<\/p>\n

Our vision is consistent with the mission statement of The United Methodist Church “to make disciples of Jesus Christ” and the direction of the Council of Bishops which adds “for the transformation of the world”.
\nAs Reconciling United Methodists, we can say “We are United Methodists of all sexual orientations and gender identities making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

AFRICAN FELLOWSHIP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Welcome, Brothers and Sisters in Christ \u2013 no matter how far your journey has brought you, the welcome here is warm and loving. You will find friendship, familiar faces, new connections, and a broad network of support.<\/p>\n

The African Fellowship worships weekly at 10am with the whole congregation, meets after Worship, and also gathers for worship, friendship and food once a month. Children and youth participate in worship, Sunday School, and Youth fellowship.

\n<\/strong>Meeting twice a month on 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 1:30pm, the UMYF program<\/a> offers an incredible chance for youth in grades 6-12 to practice leadership, engage in community service, get to know each other, and have a great time while they are doing it.<\/p>\n

4th and 5th Grade – Currently Suspended<\/span><\/strong>
\nMeeting twice a month on Sunday mornings (after service) or evenings, with special activities on weekends.
