African Fellowship\u00a0 Ministry Lead<\/b>
\nCampbell UMC is currently searching for an African Fellowship Ministry Lead.<\/span>
\nThe African Ministries Lead will nurture the spiritual life and community engagement of members connected to Campbell UMC\u2019s African Ministries, particularly those affiliated with the African Fellowship. This role will focus on cultivating leadership within the African Fellowship, fostering inter-generational connections, and integrating the gifts of the African community into the broader life of Campbell UMC. African Ministries\u00a0 \"\"<\/strong>
\nWelcome, Brothers and Sisters in Christ \u2013 no matter how far your journey has brought you, the welcome here is warm and loving.
\nYou can find friendship, familiar faces, new connections, and a broad network of support.<\/p>\n

Worship and Fellowship<\/strong>
\nThe Fellowship gathers for worship, friendship, and food once a month and also worships with the whole congregation weekly. Children and youth are welcome in worship, Sunday School, and at youth fellowship.<\/p>\n

After a year of meeting for African Fellowship worship services, the African community brought a morning of worship and feasting to the whole congregation \u2013 and everyone loved it!
\nNow, the African Men’s League and African Women’s Fellowship each lead an annual worship service for ALL. They are joyous days of celebration and praise!<\/p>\n

We also have an African Fellowship Choir – join us! We sing bi-monthly in the summer and monthly during the rest of the year. We also sing with the Chancel Choir and participate in the annual Christmas Concert.<\/p>\n

How the African Fellowship Came To Be<\/strong>
\nIn 1986, a small community of Africans, from Sierra Leone and Liberia, began to find a home within the Campbell UMC congregation. As the African community has grown, the congregation wished to recognize and reflect the African way of worship. So, in 2005, the church formed the African Fellowship Committee to offer prayer meetings and fellowship for the greater African community.<\/p>\n

“Our number is growing, with the potential of establishing wider connections and making Campbell United Methodist Church the nerve center of the African community for baptism, marriage ceremonies, funeral and memorial services, and other significant community functions.” – Joe S. Kappia<\/p>\n

Connections Within the Congregation<\/strong>
\nSeveral members of the African Fellowship now represent the community in important ways within the larger congregation such as on the Administrative Council (the decision-making body of the church), the Visioning Team, and as Youth Group advisor.<\/p>\n
